HROne Review 2024: Does it Beat Other HR and Payroll Software?
May 31st 2024
Managing employee data on spreadsheets, onboarding and employees, keeping track of payroll compliances, and dealing with frequent requests from employees like “send me the payslip for the month”—should we continue, or does your head hurt already?
These are some of the daily struggles of founders, HRs, and finance professionals in growing companies. Managing these single-handedly without HRMS software is the kind of bravery that won’t reward you. Instead, you may drown in the ocean of overwork.
Suppose you are considering buying HR and payroll software that automates payroll, leaves and attendance tracking, and other day-to-day HR activities. In that case, HROne is undoubtedly a name you have heard of. However, existing users of HROne are not entirely happy with the tool and reviews like “too complicated,” “Lots of dependence on manual work,” and “Custom reports are unavailable” are all over the review platforms.
While HROne is a good HRMS and payroll platform, there’s no harm in knowing about some HROne alternatives, too.
In this HROne review, we will share our honest review of HROne and suggest alternatives to HROne. Let’s get started.
Table of Contents
TL;DR
HROne is an efficient HRMS platform offering three key features: HR software, Payroll, and Leave and Attendance management software.
Customers appreciate the ease of use of this tool but complain about technical glitches and its incapability to generate custom reports.
HROne’s pricing is not startup-proof as all its pricing plans come with a minimum commitment of 50 employees, and that too with feature-gating.
We have also discussed significant HROne alternatives, including Craze where you will get access to all advanced HR and payroll features starting at an investment of ₹80/person/month.

Our Take on HROne’s Pricing: Does it Fit a Startup’s Budget?
HROne currently has three different pricing plans: Basic, Professional and Enterprise.
Basic
The Basic plan costs ₹85/user/month for a team of 50+ employees. While it offers basic features like payroll, reports, and geo-tagging, this plan doesn’t provide access to critical features like automated onboarding, performance management, employee database, and helpdesk.
Professional
The Professional plan costs ₹115/user/month for a team of 50+ employees. It offers access to features like a centralised employee database, onboarding, and document management. However, critical features like performance management and reviews, employee engagement portals, employee helpdesk, and workflows are missing from this plan.
Enterprise
HROne offers its Enterprise plan at custom pricing. This plan is suitable for organisations with 50+ employees and includes all the missing features from the Basic and Professional plans, such as custom workflows, performance management systems, and an employee helpdesk.
Is HROne pricing apt for growing businesses?
If you ask us, the answer is may be not. Here’s why:
All three pricing plans of HROne are subjected towards organisations with over 50 employees. At the initial stage, 50-person teams are rare in startups and growing businesses. Most startups start their journey with 10 or even lesser numbers of employees. As per their website, their subscription starts at ₹5000/month with add-ons for customisations.
Due to feature lock-ins, the Basic plan won’t be suitable for most startups. Use cases like document management, onboarding and offboarding, letters are not covered. That means opting for the Professional plan (which also gates essential features), and even if you have 50 employees in your team, paying ₹115/user/month would increase your monthly cost to a minimum ₹5750 per month. In a growing team, more employees will join, and that means the monthly fee will keep improving and that too without accessing all features
While we support HROne's per-user-per-month pricing model, we feel the gated features, the minimum 50-employee term, and the high per-user-per-month price don’t do justice to startups and their business models. Wondering if such a software even exists?
Instead, Startups require a more affordable plan with access to all required HRMS and payroll features.
Introducing a software that does precisely that: Craze. Check out their pricing plans:
Core: Craze’s Core Plan costs ₹40/month/per person. There is no “minimum employee” restriction, and businesses have access to all core HR features such as custom workflows, instant support and helpdesk, the central hub for employee databases, templates and document management, a robust reporting system, and so on. Craze's pricing is the same for all, whether you have a 5-member team or 25 or 50.
Payroll: Craze’s Payroll plan costs ₹60/month/per person and provides access to all advanced payroll features, such as one-click payroll, compliance with local tax regulations like TDS, PF, PT, automated tax reports, customised salary structures, deductions, and reimbursements. All of these features are available to teams of any size without any minimum commitments.
Leaves and Time & Attendance: At ₹40/month/per person of each product, it provides access to all significant features, including auto-sync with payrolls, automated timesheets, custom leave policies for different teams, and easy leave tracking.
